Quotes from Hector and the Search for Happiness -...
Making comparisons can spoil your happiness Happiness often comes when least expected Many people only see happiness in their future Many people think happiness comes from having more power or more money Sometimes happiness is not knowing the whole story Happiness is a long walk in beautiful, unfamiliar mountains It’s a mistake to think that happiness is the goal Happiness is being with...

3 Weeks in
Still haven’t purchased anything. So not too bad. However, I now know I won’t be able to fix the bikes this year. Oh well. We have a very squeaky door at home. Loud enough that if you open it up to go to the toilet, it wakes up the other person. Thus, if you are sleeping with somebody with a fairly small bladder, you are insured a night of little sleep. My Documentation Tools
I’ve gone completely paperless. Anything that doesn’t require originals is now scanned and shredded. My tools of choice are: Evernote for all note taking. This is my personal content management system. All notes, ideas and semi-coherent thought goes here. Mindmeister - For brainstorming and collaboration. Dropbox - My file system and library. Scanner Pro - For scanning from the...

10 days in and holding strong
I’ve made it 10 days in without any purchases. Some areas of concern are the light globes (bulbs) in the house. One has burned out. I’m hoping the rest hold until the end of the year. Additionally I did get a little medal for my last race, however it is being re-purposed as an awesome coaster. Fight the power!
Day 2 Without Buying Anything
Holding strong. I have amply supplies of razor blades and toothbrushes. CatchoftheDay mocked me yet again, but I have resisted.
Day 1 without buying anything
And so, it’s been 1 day since I have committed to go 1 year without buying anything. This last day was rife with challenges such as DealExtreme and CatchoftheDay. Oh how they taunted me. Then my wandering eyes made it to Engadget with the promises of tablet androids. Stop the torture I say. But, I have made it. 1 day without buying anything. On to day 2!
